Overview

Code Smart: Python Foundations is an introductory Python course for teens ages 13 and up. Students start with the very basics of programming and gradually learn to write, understand, and debug their own code. The course covers variables, data types, operators, conditions, loops, functions, lists, and other important Python concepts. We will definitely consider using AI in programming.

What you will build

Working algorithms that work with different data structures, a diagram based on real data, and a Python program that controls the physical hardware.

What you will learn

  • Python syntax: variables, loops, functions, lists and dictionaries.
  • Structuring the program so that it remains readable as it grows
  • Reading data from files and sensors and visualizing them
  • Systematic debugging instead of guessing
  • Using AI to write code

What you need to know first

Basic block programming experience is helpful but not required.
