About this workshop

Together, we will look for answers to these questions: What is jet propulsion? How can we use Newton’s Third Law to make an object move? Which animals use jet propulsion to move? We will demonstrate how jet propulsion works through experiments and hands-on activities.

What you will build

At the workshop, we will conduct several experiments demonstrating jet propulsion, such as those involving surface tension and balloons. Then, we will build a water rocket out of a plastic bottle and launch it.

What it covers

Jet propulsion, direction of force

What you need to know first

No previous STEM or science experience is required; curiosity and a willingness to build, experiment, and ask questions are all you need.
