About this workshop

We will take a brief look at the history of toys and explore the principles of levers and string mechanisms, as well as how they are used in children’s toys.

What you will build

As a Halloween activity, participants will design and make their own jumping toy from cardboard, based on the principle of a Jumping Jack. Each participant will also receive a ready-to-assemble wooden kit to build their own toy.

What it covers

Levers. String mechanisms.

What you need to know first

No previous STEM or science experience is required; curiosity and a willingness to build, experiment, and ask questions are all you need.
