Overview

This intermediate-level course is designed for students aged 12+ who want to explore robotics programming using Python and LEGO EV3. Students will learn how to control the robot, work with motors and sensors, and develop programs that allow the robot to respond to its environment. Through hands-on challenges, they will build and test robotic behaviors including line following and obstacle detection using light, touch, and ultrasonic sensors.

What you will build

You will program a LEGO EV3 robot to perform a range of autonomous tasks, from basic movement and navigation to following a line and detecting obstacles. Each project will combine Python code, sensor data, and motor control to create increasingly intelligent robot behaviors.

What you will learn

  • Robot movement, motor control, and basic robotics programming in Python
  • Reading and using data from light, touch, and ultrasonic sensors
  • Line-following algorithms and sensor-based navigation
  • Designing, testing, and debugging programs for autonomous robots

What you need to know first

Students should have basic Python programming experience and be comfortable with fundamental concepts such as variables, conditions, loops, and functions.
